Negotiations on a free trade agreement between the European Union and Vietnam are now over. The European Commission announced on 2 December 2015 that the agreement has now been concluded. This will facilitate trade between Vietnam and the EU. In practice, 99% of the duties are abolished.
The Free Trade Agreement is now to be translated into the official languages of the European Union and Vietnamese. It is not yet possible to say exactly when this will happen. The European Commission expects the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement to enter into force in spring 2018.
