In the shipping magazine “Fairplay”, attorney Dr. Tristan Wegner explains why the reform of the maritime law makes it easier for ships to be detained in Germany. Amendments to the German Code of Civil Procedure make it easier for courts to award a detention on a seagoing vessel. This will make Hamburg an important location for ship remains and could outstrip the previously popular Netherlands.
