Amendment of additional duties for certain products from the USA

Since 26 March 2014, an ad valorem duty of 0.35% has been imposed on certain products originating in the United States of America in addition to the duty in force.

This concerns goods which had the following CN codes in 2005:

  • Sweet corn – 0710 40 00
  • Frames for spectacles of base metal – 9003 19 30
  • Crane trucks (truck-mounted cranes) – 8705 10 00
  • long trousers (including knee breeches and similar trousers), but other than workwear – 6204 62 31

The background to this is the failure of the US to bring the Continued Dumping and Subsidy Offset Act (CDSOA) into line with its obligations under the World Trade Organisation (WTO) agreements. For this reason, an additional 15% ad valorem duty was introduced from 1 May 2005, which must be regularly adjusted to the effects of the CDSOA. The analysis for the financial year 2013 showed that the additional duty had to be changed to 0,35%.
